Alaska

The Marine Highway ferry takes over a month to journey from Washington to Dutch Harbor. There’s still time to plan a vacation on this fun, floating version of a backyard get-together since the ship hits its ports in that area on August 7thor 21st.

Arizona

Visitors come from all over to visit the Grand Canyon, and a little-known access point to the North Rim (Tuweap, or sometimes called Toroweap) is a much less crowded way to access this wonder of the world. Visitors can drive right to the edge, camp (for free!) right next to the scenic 3,000-foot drop, and also has close access to the park’s shortest trail to the bottom.

Alabama

A major attraction in the area is the Buffalo River, declared as the first one of the country’s national rivers in 1972. One man has spent the past 25 years creating a trail that will ultimately extend from this area up into the Boston Mountains, all the way down to the White River, about 135 miles less. This summer, Tripps Plus tries exciting “float hiking” and goes upstream, then spending a couple of days enjoying the scenery while kayaking back downriver.
